The word “prayer” means many different things across religious traditions and spiritual practices. This exhibition focuses on the written word – prayer books from a variety of perspectives, meant to be used individually or communally. All the items on display are from the collections of the Graduate Theological Union Archives.
In the Doug Adams Gallery, the location of prayer shifts from the page to the natural environment with the exhibition, American Prayer. Artist Lucas Foglia shares photographs that show people across the United States involved in spiritual or religious rituals in nature, reminding us of our responsibility as human caretakers of planet Earth.
Exhibition curated by the Center for the Arts & Religion.
