Greetings of Peace to all of you

THANK YOU - It is an honor to be asked to share these thoughts with you.

We gather today as faculty, administrators, GTU board members, donors, family, and friends to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates who each semester of their study read more than 400 pages a week, wrote approximately 20,000 words and attended at least 168 hours of class sessions!  Imagine that!

Throughout your time here, this study, writing, and class discussion helped you to explore topics...

In a surprise announcement Monday, Pope Benedict XVI said he would resign this month after less than eight years in office. He's the first pope to resign in nearly 600 years, when Pope Gregory XII stepped down, and the first to have done so voluntarily since Celestine V in 1294.

Sr. Marianna Farina, DSPT, participating in KQED's Forum on the topic, discussed potential sucessors and the future of the Catholic Church in the U.S. and worldwide.

With few counterparts, the Center for Islamic Studies (CIS) offers graduate students and scholars, Muslim and those of other faith traditions, the opportunity to pursue the academic study of Islam, within the multireligious context of the GTU, where pluralism, dialogue and interreligious understanding are the basis of scholarship and service. It also provides a community for Muslim students throughout the consortium regardless of academic interests.

The Center’s mission is to build an academic platform to help scholars and students of many faiths understand Islam as a living world...
